Mow Cop.

Mow Cop is a village on the border of Staffordshire and Cheshire. The most dominant feature of the village is the castle, a folly of  a ruined castle which sits at the summit of the ridge.

It was built in 1754.

The village is also known as the birthplace of Primitive Methodism, which grew from open air prayer meetings. On 31st May 1807 a 14 hour camp meeting was held which led to the founding of the Primitive Methodist Church in 1810. These meetings became a regular feature at Mow Cop.
